GO LIVE CHALLENGE
Hey, it’s Jay!
Just like the title says, I’m going to be challenging you to go live for the next 30 days.
I absolutely love going live online. Why? Because I know that every time I do this, not only do I engage better, speak better, and help someone, but most importantly, it builds my self belief and confidence in who I am and what I do. And it can and will do the same for you, if you take me up on this.
So turn on your camera, take a breath, count to 3, and I challenge you to go live.
WHY YOU SHOULD BE GOING LIVE
There are so many amazing things about going live. You get more likes, more followers, more views, and more traction. But the best thing doesn’t have to do with any of that… The best part has to do with YOU. Going live gets you outside of your own head.
So here is what I want you to do for the next 30 days: I challenge you to go live on social media at the same time every single day.
WHAT WILL THIS HELP YOU WITH?
First thing, like I said above, you’ll start getting out of your own head. You’ll stop getting stuck on things that don’t matter and will stop overthinking content so much.
Second, you’ll learn how to engage on camera with people you can’t see. You’ll become more exciting, engaging, entertaining, communicative, and most importantly, confident.
And third, you’ll start to build a community around yourself, and possibly get more clients or customers!
HOW TO GET STARTED
Going live is easy; all you need to do is press a button. But there are certain tips you should follow if you want to make the best out of it.
STEP ONE: Either hold your phone or set it up vertically to you. People hold their phones vertically while scrolling through social media, so make sure to match that.
STEP TWO: Make sure the lighting is clear and bright so that it’s easy to see you. You don’t want people clicking on your live just to see a dark figure hovering on their screen!
STEP THREE: Get away from any noise or distractions that will interfere. If people can’t hear you, they won’t even try to listen.
What should you talk about?
During your live, you want to share tips, advice, and stories related to your niche and experience.
The easiest way to come up with topic ideas is to write down the top 10 questions you get asked personally or the top 10 frequently asked questions in your niche.
Here are some specific examples you can use to get started:
Examples for realtors:
- When is the best time to buy
- Should you rent or sell
- The biggest mistake beginner realtors make
- How to raise money for a new project
Examples for plastic surgeons:
- Who is a good candidate for X surgery
- Who is NOT a good candidate for X surgery
- What is the most risky procedure
- What is the safest procedure
Examples for workout coaches:
- How to prevent burnout
- How to stay motivated
- Is diet really that important
- Are cheat days okay
Examples for accountants:
- Why are accountants important
- How to prepare for tax returns
- What counts as a tax deduction
- The importance of tax planning
Examples for lawyers:
- Alternatives before going to court
- Important factors to consider when choosing your next business structure
- Keys to a good business practice
- What does the term ‘without prejudice’ mean
Examples for artists/entertainers:
- 3 questions I love getting asked
- Where do I perform/who is my audience
- My favorite I ever did performance
- What kind of artist am I
How long should your live be?
Your live should be between 2-5 minutes, but don’t stress if you can’t hit the exact numbers. The more you do this, the better you will develop your skill of speaking without audience feedback.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The biggest problem most people have is that they don’t have anyone holding them accountable, so they start to slack off. But here’s a trick for you to use to make sure you stay on top of things:
Hand your friend $1,000 and tell them that for every day you don’t do a video, they get to keep $33. At the end of the month, you take back everything that’s left. You’ll be motivated to show up so that you don’t lose all your money! And if $1,000 doesn’t motivate you, try $10,000!
In the end…
If you commit to this and show up every day for the next 30 days, you will have gained an amazing skill that not many people have. I have personally only seen tremendous results from doing this, and encourage you to try it out.
Remember to have fun and speak with authenticity. You’re not trying to be me, you’re not trying to be someone else. Just be YOU. Show up and do what most people don’t do, and I guarantee you will get wins.
